In men's international rugby union, which is regarded as the nation's national sport, New Zealand is represented by the national team, also referred to as the All Blacks. The All Blacks are renowned for their achievements on a global scale and are frequently considered one of the greatest sports teams in history.
In 1987, 2011, and 2015, the team brought home the Rugby World Cup. They were the first nation to win the Rugby World Cup three times and to hold the trophy for an extended period of time. In test-match rugby, New Zealand has a 76 percent winning record and has won more games than lost against all of its opponents.
Twelve of the 19 nations that New Zealand teams have faced in test matches since their international debut in 1903 have never triumphed All Blacks Game Today over the All Blacks. In 45 games, the team has only lost eight versus three international all-star teams. New Zealand has been at the top of the World Rugby Rankings longer than any other team has combined since the rankings were first established in 2003.
In the Rugby Championship, which has been held for 28 years, the All Blacks are in competition with Argentina, Australia, and South Africa. They have won the trophy 20 times overall. Four Grand Slam tours against the four Home Nations have been accomplished by the team (1978, 2005, 2008, and 2010). Since the award's inception in 2001, World Rugby has awarded New Zealand the World Rugby Team of the Year ten times, and over the same time period, an All Black has earned the World Rugby Player of the Year title ten times. The World Rugby Hall of Fame has inducted nineteen former All Blacks.
